Medicines and other items’ price history is not maintained or if maintained not available timely.

This is very important to maintain price history of every item, which supplements information when procurement is initiated and approval authorities need to have such information to procure items with good price.

Suppliers’ performance is not monitored.

In many situations supplies as per order is not received timely or as a result of inspection there is a greater chance of rejection in case of some suppliers.  This causes shortage of items and especially in case of medicines and patient related consumable becomes unbearable.

Charging of lab, radiology and other services including cost of medicines and consumables in bill is done at day end or at the time of discharge.  This results omission of few services, consequently billing is incorrect.

Cost and charges if not applied in patient bill on real-time basis then there are chances that some cost and charges are left to be added or not added correctly. This causes incorrect patient billing.

Delayed billing for discharged patients.

This is also observed that upon discharge patient is kept waiting for the purpose of giving bill.  The bill to patient must be precisely mentioned with all advance and partial payments received time to time during stay as indoor patient.  Once patient is said to be discharged details from many departments are collected or the patient file is referred to have all needed information for generating patient bill.  Such information are manually added for bill generation.  This again have serious issues in bill generation.
